the influence of Music

--- Entry---January 13,2011

transcendental music

UPDATE: January 24: science now confirms that listening to music can release dopamine into our bodies. A natural high!
Within and Without You- the Beatles:
We were talking-about the space between us all and the people-who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth-then it's far too late-when they pass away.

We were talking-about the love we all could share-when we find it to try our best to hold it there-with our love;
With our love-we could save the world-if they only knew.

Try to realize it's all within yourself
No-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small,
And life flows ON within you and without you.

We were talking-about the love that's gone so cold and the people,
Who gain the world and lose their soul-
They don't know-they can't see-

are you one of them?

Those were the days when mind tripping was in vogue and music was soaring:
some years later John Mellancamp reflected on those days:
'That's when a sport was a sport
And groovin' was groovin'
And dancin' meant everything
We were young and we were improvin'

Laughin', laughin' with our friends
Holdin' hands meant somethin', baby
Outside
the club
, 'Cherry Bomb'
Our hearts were really thumpin'

Our generation was significantly molded and influenced by the music of the times. I don't think the music of today has the same impact on the listeners and it seems that many young adults tend to agree. This particular song reminds me of those days when music was in the process of reflecting the world and our place therein. I was in my early twenties when I began to take an ardent interest in learning about the techniques involved in 'raising one's consciousness'...beginning with a book entitled Cosmic Consciousness. My high school friends thought I was nuts as I began to delve deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole. Music was a big part of my life.
It began for me with the Beatles and then there came a television newscast called Here come the 70's with some very innovative background music.

My soul was very thirsty and still remains so. Many years later I penned my own manuscript called the Burgeoning Soul. What I know now is that we are all connected and there is a definite cosmic plan playing out. The problem is that so many people are still caught up in the material reality that they find little time to contemplate exactly what reality means or explore their individual 'spark of divinity' that emanates from within. Our music was the age of balladeers, poets and mystics.

We are coming to a nexus point that will determine whether the Dark Side wins out in the great challenge ahead. I believe it is important for people to become more consciousness through mindfulness and attentiveness as to what is really going on all around us. The Planet is in a terrible mess and I think we have already gone past the point of no return. But how does one prepare for the unknown? Mayan prophecies offer up many potentialities, but no one can know the higher truth for sure. But then, "we all have truths, are yours the same as mine".

Music continues to be my inspiration and I believe it is a good tool to use for soothing the spirit. And in these times we need all the tools we can acquire to remain centered and harmonized within to adapt to the coming changes.
